CfD has started the Railway Child Help Desk (CHD) with the support of Childline India Foundation (CIF) at Ahmedabad Railway Station in Ahmedabad. CHD was a collective program of Ministry of Women and Child Development and Ministry of Railways in collaboration of CIF. An average of 25-30 children were rescued every month from Kalupur, Maninagar and Vatva Railway Stations, who needed care and protection and victims of either trafficking or runaway. These children reach here under various circumstances.
From its inception in October 2016 to July 2023, total of 1736 children were rescued. While around 3,77,366 people including passengers, community of nearby habitats, coolies, railway police force, vendors, drivers, railway staff were made aware during 8 years of span by organizing different awareness events and celebrations of special days like International Children’s Day, International Women’s Day, Independence and Republic Days, Childline Se Dosti – a weeklong celebration, World Day Against Trafficking and outreach events. Total 6347 times phone testing was performed by CHD team to check the connectivity of CIF helpline centre.
After July, 2023 this program, was handed over to Ministry of Home Affairs, hence discontinued by CIF.
